How sleep dentistry works
All sleep dentistry treatments use an anti-anxiety medication to help patients relax. Each type of medication has a different effect. We can work with you to help you choose the medicine that’s the best match for you.
Types of sleep dentistry:
Oral Sedation
For a mild to moderate level of anxiety control we can prescribe an antianxiety pill that you take before you come for your appointment.
IV Sedation
For a moderate to high level of sedation we can use intravenous (IV) sedation. Under IV sedation you will be in a sleep-like state and you won’t remember your treatment.
Nitrous Oxide
Traditional laughing gas will provide a mild to moderate level of sedation that will wear off quickly after your treatment.
Warning:
All types of sedation will leave you legally impaired and unable to drive. Please ensure that you have transportation home and that you have someone to care for you for 24 hours after your appointment.
